Job Description

Develop and implement a strategic procurement plan aligned with business objectives while ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with policies and regulations. Manage supplier relationships, procurement operations, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize sourcing, drive continuous improvement, and support business goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Develop and implement a strategic procurement plan aligned with business objectives. Define procurement policies, processes and best practices to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness. Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to identify sourcing opportunities and trends. Set key performance indicators to measure procurement effectiveness. Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers and service providers. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure service quality and reliability. Conduct supplier performance reviews based on KPIs including on time delivery, cost and service level agreements. Ensure procurement of goods and services from BBEEE compliant vendors. Oversee the end to end procurement process. Ensure timely and cost effective sourcing of goods and services. Optimise procurement workflows to reduce lead times and eliminate bottlenecks. Drive process automation and leverage technology for efficiency. Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost efficiency. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives without compromising quality. Monitor procurement spending and ensure alignment with business financial goals. Conduct cost benefit analyses to justify procurement decisions. Negotiate competitive rates and service agreements. Compliance, Risk and Governance Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry regulations. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions. Maintain ethical procurement practices, adhering to corporate governance and anti corruption policies. Assist the BBEEE, internal and external auditors as required. Suggest improvements to internal controls where gaps are identified. Cross functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Works closely with operations, finance and legal teams to align procurement to business needs. Provide insights to leadership for strategic decision making. Support global and regional procurement initiatives to enhance synergies and economics of scale. Drive a customer centric procurement approach, ensuring service levels meet operational requirements. Track and report on procurement performance metrics (eg cost savings, supplier efficiency, delivery timelines). Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement effectiveness. Utilize data analytics for procurement decision making and forecasting. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements. Set measurable KPIs for staff that drive a strong performance culture. Actively coach and mentor team. Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and innovation. Assist with ad hoc special analysis requests as required by the business.

Education + Experience

    Grade 12 certificate. Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field (NQF Level 7) Minimum of 7 to10 years in a senior Procurement role. 5 to 10 years management experience. Experience in the international logistics industry advantageous. Shipshape & Cargowise experience added advantage. Advanced excel and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft suite. SAP, Power BI. Promotion of process improvement and strong internal controls.
